Thank you for being a part of the Second Look Pro Bono Project! The Second Look Amendment Act (SLAA) became effective on April 27, 2021. Under SLAA, individuals that were under the age of 25 years old at the time of their alleged offense and have served over 15 years in prison are eligible to petition the D.C. Superior Court for a sentence reduction. The Second Look Act Counsel Committee was formed to help find and support pro bono representation of eligible individuals.
You can use this website to find general training materials, recorded training sessions, and other SLAA/IRAA resources. In addition, there is a case management system (portal link below) where you can access information about your case(s), including client details, case information, and historical case documents if those documents are available in the Court’s public docket system. Please update the status of your case at major moments—when the motion has been filed, when the government has responded and whether they have opposed, and when a ruling has occurred—as this will help us track cases and provide ongoing support to you and other pro bono teams.
